jach,

Give me a break! The 1200 lbs COMS beating the smaller 800 lbs CSCO? Do you really think that 3Com is going to leverage its NIC/PCMCIA/Modem, Palm, Remote Access, and Enterprise divisions into a force that will dwarf Cisco? I'm not saying it can't happen but I haven't seen anything from 3Com that remotely indicates to me that they are ready to compete for the title.

This slugfest if ever held will be between Lucent and Cisco.

Cheers,

Steve

Jach: Wireless, DSL and cable businesses are the areas with the most tremendeous growth in the future. Both CSCO & 3COM are in these areas. Also, LU & Notel are trying & in these areas. In any case, both 3COM & CSCO will win if the phone compaines stay wide band DSL or if the phone companies switch to cable (ie.. like ATT). Nonetheless, both companies will win. 3COM has the edge on some techonologies and especially in the At home wireless niche.(ie.. 3COM won a contract w/ATT over CSCO). Now, what is this saying to the market??? OF Course, 3COM is better in the long run.
In any case, the fact is that 33 broker analysts are tracking 3COM. And, the broker recommendation monthly point avg. has increased resulting as a excellent positive indicator and a very good sign. Current point avg. is 2.09, last month was 2.17, and two months ago it was 2.19. This is facts!!!!!
Finally, a new technology shift identified by Andy Grove of Intel during the Charles Rose show is smaller computer devices like the Palm Pilot. These smaller devices will be a great part of our lives in the future. And, the computer boxes will change to some type of computer type hubs similiar to the computers as we know them today and might change a little to feed data into these new devices.. etc..... . This leads me to believe that servers and computers will continue to drive our lives. later.... Al

stick to COMS, will appreciate well. No clues analysts only know to upgrade and downgrade based on qtrly reports. The smart ones picked way early before the no-clues have any clues yet, that's a good one!
