Kingston First in Memory Enhancement Industry to Receive Intel RIMM Validation

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Kingston Technology, the world's leading independent manufacturer of memory products, announced today that Kingston's RIMM modules have successfully passed Intel Corporation's Validation Test. Kingston is first in the memory enhancement industry with validated, production-level RIMM modules, ranging in size from 64MB to 256MB, that support the PC600, PC700 and PC800 RDRAM(TM) memory specifications.

''The successful validation of Kingston's RIMM modules confirms Kingston's capability to produce fully-compliant RIMM modules,'' said Richard Kanadjian, Director of Strategic Marketing, Kingston. ''We started working closely with Intel Corporation and Rambus Inc. in 1998. Since then, we have established a global, high-volume manufacturing capability -- well ahead of the product launch in the third quarter of this year.''

To support OEM, corporate, channel and other customers, Kingston has increased its manufacturing capacity to assemble over 2.6 million RIMM modules per month at its California, USA; Dublin, Ireland; and Hsinchu, Taiwan manufacturing centers. Kingston has also set up high-end Hewlett-Packard and Advantest testers to test over 600,000 RIMM modules at-speed, per month, at 600-, 700- and 800-Mega Transfers per second (MT/s). This comprehensive interface and core-testing capacity can be easily expanded to meet increasing production requirements in the third and fourth quarters of 1999.

Intel has set up an independent Validation Program to test the functionality and electrical characteristics of RIMM modules. Kingston's RIMM modules successfully passed the validation tests and can be found on the Intel website intel.com which lists the results of the validation tests.

Further information on Kingston validated RIMM modules and on its global manufacturing centers can be obtained on the Kingston Technology website: www.kingston.com/rambus. Preliminary RIMM and Continuity RIMM module data sheets can be found at www.kingston.com/rambus/datasheets.
