DJ Gruntal's Battipaglia: Employment Data 'Inconclusive'

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Joe Battipaglia, chief investment officer at Gruntal & Co., said Wall
Street is reacting positively to the employment data because it is "inconclusive."

Appearing on CNBC Friday, Battipaglia emphasized market watchers now will be focused on the
Federal Reserve meeting in late June.

Battipaglia also said he anticipates the Fed not being aggressive on rates, and second-quarter
earnings to be "explosive." And that combination could lead to new market highs, he added.

Additionally, his stock picks were Pfizer Inc. (PFE), Northwest Airlines Corp. (NWAC) and Lucent
Technologies Inc. (LU).

Perez said the only potential dark cloud for Lucent in Mexico in the near future was possible political and economic instability during the campaign period and the transition associated with next year's presidential elections.

"We are hoping for a transition without economic problems.
Investments are very sensitive to the capital markets. Our market depends on the flow of capital to Mexico, stable interest rates, etc.," she said

Pay close attention to these two comments, not only applicable to Mexico, or Lucent exclusively, but to Latin America and any company that does business there.

I know, I am pointing out the obvious.... but it is now increasingly important, (more than ever), as the world economies become more interdependent. A strong argument against the Fed increasing rates, without considering the global picture...

btw.... LU seems to be breaking through $60.00
