Amzn's movement lately is totally diverged from
the general market. It has to do with increasing loss estimates.

Sarmad good opportunity wouldn't you say markets and Amzn run on high fear right now buy the stock.

AMZN has a high beta and an even higher relative volatility. Sometimes it trades counter to the market. Massive amounts of money have been flowing out of the Internet sector and into other sectors. So AMZN, YHOO and others have dropped off their perches while many other stocks have moved up or have not been effected that much.

What is happening in the market is the "best scenario" I had thrown out around early February. At that time I said that the hyper valuations in the Internut sector would either cause the entire market to collapse as money flow changed due to the end of monetary expansion policies and low interest rates and other factors. Or there could have been a sector rotation out of the high flying Internut and other high P/E sectors and into the cyclicals and value growth small to mid cap sectors. Fortunately for economic stability, the more favorable outcome appears to have occurred and a general collapse in the market has probably been avoided.

I don't expect more than a mild correction in the general market. For the most part there will be a continued rotation into more rational investments. The Y2K thing combined with continued inflation worries might cause a short term downturn for a while toward the end of the year - I sure hope that it does so it creates a buying opportunity. Into 2000 I think the market will perform very well.

The Internuts will probably become hot again as the Christmas sales and hype season gets here.
