Saf-T-Hammer Pioneers Second New Locking Device With None of the Drawbacks of the Standard Trigger Lock Device Following the Senate's adoption of an amendment requiring all handguns purchased from a manufacturer, importer, or licensed dealer to be sold with a gun safety device, the Saf-T-Hammer Corp. (OTC BB: SAFH) Friday announced its latest gun safety device, the Saf-T-Trigger(TM). Developed by the Saf-T-Hammer Corp. in Scottsdale, Saf-T-Trigger is an easily operated security device designed to disable the trigger without the use of awkward "add on" pieces, and without the danger associated with standard trigger locks. The tiny device, which is permanently installed in the trigger housing, extends with the use of a specialized tool to prevent the trigger from moving. To rearm the gun, the same tool is used to retract the device into its housing. Either move takes seconds. Children and unauthorized adults without access to the specialized tool will not be able to rearm a firearm protected by the Saf-T-Trigger. Saf-T-Trigger can be incorporated into new guns or retrofit on the majority of the nation's 65 million handguns currently in circulation, as well as most long guns and hunting rifles, for about $35. The patent-pending Saf-T-Trigger is scheduled to be on store shelves during the first quarter of 2000, and has distinct advantages over other trigger-oriented storage devices now on the market. Saf-T-Trigger can be used safely on both loaded and unloaded guns. Unlike trigger locks or cable locks, Saf-T-Trigger cannot be knocked off or cut off. And, there are no sequences, codes, or combinations to remember. Saf-T-Trigger compliments the corporation's growing line of gun safety products, which includes the Saf-T-Hammer(TM), an easily removable handgun hammer that fully disables the gun when removed, and the Hammer Guard(TM), a polyurethane insert that blocks accidental contact between the hammer and the round. Sandy Price, executive vice president of Saf-T-Hammer Corp., stated, "Our patent pending status is timely, in light of the May 19th amendment adopted by the Senate, requiring all handguns purchased from a manufacturer, importer, or licensed dealer to be sold with a gun safety device." The amendment passed overwhelmingly by a margin of 78-20. The House Judiciary Committee will hear testimony on similar language sometime during the week of June 7th. "Saf-T-Trigger offers another significant choice for gun owners looking for a way to enhance the safety of their firearms," said Saf-T-Hammer President, Mitchell A. Saltz. "With none of the drawbacks of traditional trigger locks, we know Saf-T-Trigger will save lives." Saf-T-Hammer is a public corporation listed on the OTC bulletin board.
