Talk about dead weight.... check out the impact DIVX is having on CC earnings... I think their investors should give management an earful at their next conference call...

RICHMOND, Va. -- Circuit City Stores Inc. on Friday said it expects
fiscal first-quarter earnings at its core Circuit City electronics group to nearly double compared with a year-ago, boosted by strong sales of consumer electronics, personal computers and appliances.

According to the parent company's forecast, Circuit City Group should
report earnings of about 25 cents a share, topping analysts' estimates by five cents a share, and almost doubling the group's year-ago earnings of 13 cents a share on revenue of $1.92 billion.

Circuit City Stores said its consumer-electronics stores should contribute about 39 cents a share to Circuit City Group's first-quarter earnings, a 63% increase over the previous year. Although Circuit City Group is composed mainly of consumer-electronics stores, its results also reflect an investment in Digital Video Express LP, or DIVX, and an interest in the Carmax Group, which trades separately and reflects the performance of the parent company's auto-superstore chain.

Circuit City Group expects its investment in DIVX to reduce its
first-quarter earnings by about 16 cents a share
, but it sees its interest in CarMax adding about two cents a share to first-quarter results.

A slight update from Colorado Springs: The lead time is now moved to 12 weeks. Capital Appropriation Requests have been signed by LSI that will give them the tools they need to ramp up to 2850 wafer starts per week. It appears that even more potential production is being shunted to Gresham, but this is more along the lines of speculation.

These are clearly record levels.
