I'm curious if you think that the members of this thread really have that type of power to move the stock. If so, I would think people would probably just post ridiculous expectations on stocks that they were short. I know that this probably happens, I've just never thought that it was effective.

I *am* a long-term investor, the various predictions are really just mental exercises. I post them because I know others may be looking for an entry or exit point and may find this information useful. As long as Qualcomm continues to show earnings growth and strong prospects for the future, it doesnt matter to me if the stock tanks after the coming quarter. It would just represent another buying opportunity.

I agree completely on the last point. The Q's future is almost completely in it's own hands.

I agree that some posters comments might cause expectations to rise. I doubt many bother with my estimates. I only post them to get comments from others on their expectations. I agree with you that the numbers will be great this quarter even if they just meet the 61 cent street estimates. However, I think the post that Gregg Powers made earlier today is more on point about future value. Unless you are a trader, price fluctuations mean little. It is the long-term execution by management that matters. As to speculating about earnings, it is my opinion that every estimate I have seen from the Street is pure speculation. All the analysts seem to be afraid to really put their self on the line and try to give an estimate that they really think will happen. I guess that leaves lots of room for further increases, but Qcom management is the key to performance. I agree with you performance is all that counts.
