This is great for RMBS but low volume today is undercutting a rally in the stock, seems down on light volume for the weekend.

SAN JOSE -- Samsung Semiconductor Inc. here has announced that its64- and 128-Mbyte RIMM modules are the industry's first to successfully pass Intel Corp.'s RIMM Module Validation Test.

Samsung announced in April that it was the first Rambus DRAM manufacturer to receive Intel validation for its 72-, 128- and 144-Mbyte RDRAM components. Samsung said this validates its ability to produce both components and modules that are fully compliant with the Rambus specification.

"We are definitely proud to be the frontrunner in the race for adoption of Rambus technology." said Avo Kanadjian, senior vice president of memory marketing at Samsung Semiconductor. "The validations reinforce the industry's confidence in the Rambus program. We have started mass production to ensure volume deliveries in September to meet our customers' product launch dates."

Subodh Toprani, vice president and general manager, Industry Enabling Division at Rambus Inc., in Mountain View, Calif., said the Samsung validation meant that "OEMs can be assured that their volume manufacturing needs will be met."
