...proving once again why nobody's ever accused MacCallum of pulling any punches. That's a really interesting letter, especially the part about positioning THW for acquisition by a MACR competitor. Nobody can accuse THW of rumor-mongering regarding takeovers if they come right out with it. It's no surprise they are cutting back on staff, either. They must have been bleeding money for the past year.

Thanks for posting that news Ross. If Adobe can see strong sales for its GoLive web authoring tool (which it just bought from another company) I can imagine them being quite interested in LiveStage and WebPainter to battle against the Dreamweaver/Flash/Fireworks combo from Macromedia. Nice to know that is being considered by THW management. Ideally I would like to see them make it on their own, as the market is huge for these products, but I don't see how they can succeed without strong financial backing.
