Andy-

Don't quote me on it (pun intended), but quite frequently, I see their strange behavior on NASDAQ level 2 quotes, and I believe that they're shorting the stock. Of all the anal-ysts, Weedbotch has always been the maverick. Always the worst estimates, the most illogical rating scale and upgrade/downgrade behavior, as well as the weakest price targets. I think of them as an annoyance that is hanging around because they (mis)handled THQ's secondary 2 years ago. Yeah, like they think THQ is actually going to give them any more business. Of course, perhaps they're sitting on the stock, because they're bitter. We MATURE people know that this is rather unprofessional, but we also should realize that there are more StaggerLee types making a market in THQI than there are professionals like the rest of us.

Nice jump at the end of the day. This big jump on low volume nonsense is indicative of price manipulation, at least to me. Why don't we have a 30 point jump on Monday on 500,000 shares? I'll take that.

Todd

Andy,

I've also been keeping an eye on the level 2 quotes, and while I can't say for certain what Wedbush's overall strategy is regarding THQ, I am pretty sure they are regular sellers and that they like to sell heavily into the "happy-buying" that THQ regularly inspires due to their earnings. They usually post a bid well under the inside (often more than a point), so when it appears that they want the stock (like they did today at 21 13/16) that looks bullish to me. But I recommend caution in regards to trading off of what you think a MM's intentions are because they have many ways of disguising them.

It shouldn't be a big surprise, in general, that a MM with a buy reco is a seller. If I might criticize the three main message boards for THQ it would be that almost everybody acts like the MMs take long-term positions in regards to THQ. It is just not the case that MMs have the same interest in THQ as do Todd on the one hand and Stagger (if he still has a position) on the other. They just want nice spreads. They want to daytrade. They will only take a believer's position (long or short) when they believe the stock has obviously become overbought or oversold.

One thing that has developed since early 1998 is that THQ follows the overall sentiment of the market. In Oct 97 the Hong Kong crash didn't hurt THQ at all; the stock, having just reported its 3Q, finished significantly up that day. Now, THQ hardly ever bucks a trend. So with interest rates probably going up, I think it's realistic to expect that THQ will act poorly for the near-term and maybe a few months. I have been selling into rallies lately and I will probably continue to do so until we have a definite hit coming from the WWF, or if some other great announcement hits the wires.

Good luck.
