Shadow, weren't many members of this thread expressing the thought that Dell would end up manufacturing pc's for IBM. Where the hell did Acer come from?

<<This IBM/ACER deal is good news for DELL cause now
DELL's main competitor is shipping JUNK !!!! >>

Shadow: IBM is great when it comes to cutting costs. Yet, quality and customer satisfaction are really crucial metrics to watch. DELL has designed its operations and processes to meet customer needs. IMO, IBM may be focusing too much on keeping the profits up and delivering for the shareholders in the near term. The customers are a very important stakeholder. IMO, DELL is developing a MUCH more powerful bond with consumers and corporate customers. In the future owning the customer relationship will be key. IBM may be starting to fall behind. Choosing Acer as a strategic partner is a reflection of their thinking. IBM is focusing on costs. Yet, IMO in the long run quality, service and customer relationships will be most important. Just some Friday evening thoughts.

Best Regards,

Scott
