I've got nothing against anonymous posts, I just wouldn't rely on them for investment advice. Especially if they purported to supply otherwise unverifiable insider information.

OT--Esther Dyson talks about "persistent identity." The idea is that an Internet persona can be judged on its previous actions/posts whether the actual identity of the person is known or not. If "Tom Swift" has behaved credibly in the past, then I don't need to know whether "he" is a trader at a top Wall Street firm or a little old lady in Kansas in order to judge any particular statement.
