Brian,

I nonconcur, I believe there are many more problems than the few you have listed. <gg>

However, let's just start with your list.

1) It would be the height of folly for the major players in the cable modem industry (that would be the FCC, T, Time Warner, Murdock et al) and the minor players, like our beloved/unloved ATHM, to allow regulation to be promulgated on a city by city basis. We been there, we don't do this any more. The proposals, as presented by the cities you mention (SF as well), will undoubtedly be considered as we create a national policy. Since the FCC is biased toward a hands off posture, the most likely venue for a 'final' decision on access will be the Supreme Court.

2) So what, so do credit card companies, retail stock brokers, the entire medical profession as well as certain entrepreneurs in rural counties in Nevada.

3) But Brian, isn't the provision of Internet access and eventually VOD and telephony services an example of value added "increased service" from those bad ol' cable monopolies?

Best, Ry
