<<A sampling of Dell announcements in the last week...

- ASP's not expected to drop as fast in 99 as 98.
- eCommerce expected to add 20-40 billion over the next few years.
- Huge current opportunity to go after Compaq's enterprise market.

Nobody is paying attention to the positives right now.>>

MEATHEAD: Interesting comments. I feel that the institutions continue to chase after the next "hot stock" or the blessed "undervalued stocks." Many of the Growth Funds (and some of the ANALysts) make blanket statements about the PC industry's health and fail to really understand the difference between DELL and their competitors. You are right that a lot of THE BIG MONEY is not paying attention to DELL's good news. That is very clear. It's hard to find a cyclical or a financial stock that could consistently perform like DELL <GG> . The smart Funds may be building their positions in DELL right now -- before the rest of the world realizes why DELL will continue to thrive. IMO, it would help if MSD and his team would hold an Internet Growth Summit in Austin -- in the next 6 weeks. This would be designed to clearly communicate to all of DELL's stakeholders. DELL has a great story to tell and there seem to be a lot of folks out there that are confused and need a tutorial...!! They fail to understand why DELL is going to be a dominant player in the new digital economy. The internet stimulates the demand for DELL's core products and services and provides DELL with an opportunity to enhance its use of virtual integration (and extend its competitive advantage). Someday all of this will be clear. Right now we just have a lot of confusion and misinformation in the marketplace.

Best Regards,

Scott

MEATHEAD:
<Nobody is paying attention to the positives right now>

Like I said in a previous post, an Edward Jones publication arrived at my house that said the action has shifted from PC computing to communications. Companies like DELL, INTC, and MSFT will only partially benefit from communications. Companies like WCOM will more fully benefit.
