I don't why they did it. Maybe they wanted to leverage a long position 2 to 1 (roughly) without using margin. If I thought AMGN was going to make a run for it's old highs, 80+, along with the market, Summer rally etc.., AMQGF could return about 50%+ with a 25-30% move in the stock. Maybe one of those high beta mutual funds is makin' a move.
Or, if someone wanted to short AMGN and couldn't get their hands on the shares, sell the calls.

Judy, I noticed when your bullish, on a fast mover you sell deep in the money puts as a synthetic long, take in premium. Great play. Usually better to be a seller of options than a buyer.
