It's important to remember, they are not LOSING money. They are INVESTING it, in building a business.

Not if they pay $650 million for $6 million worth of software, like they did last month. I agree, it is a fine site, I use them all the time, but I always check to see if they are the lowest price, since that takes about 5 seconds. All they're doing is proving features that can be replicated and improved upon elsewhere much more cheaply. They are buying my business. That's the main problem with being a non-profit tech operation. If you can run fast to keep slightly ahead of the competition, and still make money, you're golden. If you lose money, you better find a way to make some.

How do you think AMZN plans to make a profit? Or do you think they'll be satisfied just being a brand, with no profit?

Behavior patterns on the net, unfortunately, are a mouse click away.

cycle, which this company is in the midst of.

It is just as important to understand accounting. I doubt it is offered in high school but trade schools and colleges offer classes.
