>> Looking at Amazon's 10-K disclosure, the company is a prolific
issuer of employee options. Last year, net of cancellations, the company paid options on 16 million shares to employees. Based on the 161 million outstanding shares at the end of February, the company agreed to sell employees a 10% stake for only $400 million.

This should be verifiable from the tot shares and float. According to this article there should be 1.5 M shares added per month. At the time of the 3/1 split in January, there were 150 m shares. Now it is 162 m. With the converts it should soon be 170 m. All the additional shares should go to the float. Jan, please get your calculator.

Before taking the Amazon plunge, be sure to consider the potential risks as well as the potential rewards. While many seem to think evaluating risk is unpatriotic or idiotic, it can also lead to higher portfolio returns.

Ah! such a simple statement, yet ignored by many, (including those who participate in the penny market, as a prime example, without forgetting tradable flying bacon, of course)...

Never mind understanding accounting, marketing, or the Internet...[while important considerations]....

Study risk, what it means, and its direct relationship with reward... a dose of "opportunity cost" plugged into the thought, would also be helpful... (not to mention higher returns, as indicated).
