Hi LG; AOL price has been manipulated as far back as I have watched
her. She is one of the best for taking out short stop losses that
I know of.
And playing options on her the premiums are sky high , also
they also get skewed to high heaven both ways.
As far as I'm concerned she is the evil empire of the internet
next to MSFT there is not another tech company I'd rather see fall
off it's overly glorified perch and land on it's arse.
But AT&T and IBM do run a close 3rd and 4th, with Ziff-Davis
and all their hype right behind.
---------------------
Do you know that the SI Semiconductor 30 as a grope has only
made 7% since July of 97 ! for all the hype the not
long ago leader and darling of wall street has now for two years failed to yield as much as Money Market deposits.
Indeed the majority of long term buy and hold smucks in that area have lost money buying into CNBC & ZD type hype, even the lowest
paying CD one could find has done better.
I think there is a message there somewhere for the internut
bulls. But why o why do none of the news pundits point it out ?
--------------------
If one could compile a list of ALL the Nasdaq stocks in the last
two years that got delisted and tossed in the garbage heep with
the BB junk; many of them disappearing into thin air altogether
or getting bought up for pennies on the dollar to what they
IPOed at .. and subtract from the Nasdaq index all the money sent to money heaven by those now invisible stocks, one would see the big picture is not anything as rosy as the index paints it.
All indexes do the same, but I think the Naz is better at it.
Jim

LG, What was even more amazing to me on AOL,

was that it sat there at $108 for what seemed like 10 mins after the news was announced and T and ATHM were falling pretty hard. It was interesting to watch. T has gotten crushed almost all the way back to the initial gap. You don't often see one of the Big Boyz fall 9 days in a row. T was sure a classic short at $63 -- only sorry I didn't play it. Oh well, nice thing about the Big Boyz is they will give you another chance to get the timing right. <g>
