Sarmad,

I believe it was shareware downloaded off the Web. My wife installed it ... have to ask her.

It is quite easy. Blocking ads from doubelclick is trivial, you simply set up a tiny (1k) proxy server on your machine that automatically ignores any HTML that requests data from doubleclick.net/*.

There are several good ad filters out there, and they work perfectly. @Guard was recently bought by RealNetworks and is a commercial product, and Intermute, while shareware, is also excellent.

@Guard was the single most popular download-for-sale program as tracked by CNET for the last 3 months.

Don't think the big guys arent noticing. There are even webpages that install this software via active-x, so it literally takes ONE CLICK for the user to start using such software.
