My response was that I concur that the efficient market idea has a place among other ideas in describing the market. That is my position. I am unwilling to modify that position or engage further a debate about the issue at this point. The satirical element of my previous posts I didn't regard as insulting. Perhaps you do. What I was trying to say was "OK, BGR, we have heard you bring this issue up. I agree with you somewhat and I don't agree with you somewhat. I don't have a need or desire to change your stance or understand your stance more deeply. I respect your right to believe what you believe. However, it is apparent to me that not everyone shares your view as the 10,000,000 posts on SI, I believe in some measure show. People are still trying to figure this thing out. You can keep saying they are not going to succeed in their efforts. That's your right. I just don't want to discuss it further with you. I am going to take part in the debate with these people. I find the debate interesting and financially rewarding and don't want to constantly have a meta debate about whether the debate is worthwhile. There are times when that is interesting to me. Most times it is not to me." On the flip side, I do find this post I am responding to to be condescending. For that reason, I want to stop here.
