David,

Eventually, you'll be able to get everything - TV signal, internet access, local & long distance phone service (as many lines as you like) down one pipe, be it cable or DSL, so the need for second phone lines will evaporate.

A little later this year AOL will be introducing it's newest software for it's users. When a user connects to the web though AOL the software will automatically detect the users connection speed and then open a window that gives the user a choice of AOL subscriber services that can be accessed such as Web TV, phone and other products. This I see as a revolutionary improvement for AOL users.
It should also serve as sort of a subliminal sales pitch for faster connection speeds.

AOL will also be giving the subscriber a free computer with a 2 year DSL subscription! That ought to be one heck of a successful promotion for the company which should result in a wind fall of new subscribers!!
