Poor whites have the same lack of opportunity now- with manufacturing jobs leaving this country. That's one reason they are angry- people get ugly and violent without hope- as we have seen in our inner cities. As for the glass ceiling (for Cobalt)I know there is a glass ceiling but it is permeable- and partly it is a matter of time. Women were not graduating college in droves (with a drive to become CEO) until the 70's at the earliest. YOu can't expect the power structure to change in such a short time when those women are only just NOW 20-30 years into the upper eschelons of corporate America. The social changes in this country have been monstrously swift- I am always surprised at how LITTLE social violence has accompanied them- I would have expected much more social disintegration considering what we have done to our society.
