<<<<The cost to entry would likely be split between the MSO and ATHM.

By cost of entry, I'm referring to the costs associated with ISP's linking their dialup servers to ATHM backbone. Any "last mile" expenses would be paid by ISP as well.

<<<The ongoing fee goes to the MSO.>>>

If the ISP is presently selling dial-up or DSL service there is no MSO involved. I thought MSO's paid ATHM access fees, not the other way aropund.

<<<The network is not underutilized. Nowhere near, the problem is exactly the opposite.<<<<<

My understanding has been that the problem with "ATHM" speed has been the inadequecy of the cable operators last mile solution rather than the ATHM network itself. IOW, ATHM, as sold to you by TCI.

<<<ATHM does have the possiblity of providing a transport service between the MSO and the ISP, but that is simply a service they would offer that the ISP may or may not choose to use.<<<<<

Eric, Thanks for your reply, I am aware that my confusion may be the result of a misunderstanding I hold in regards to ATHM/ISP/MSO relationships. I will always defer to those more knowledgeable than I on these issues, there are many. Thanks, D.H.
