I see a small and particular element so my survey is not conclusive. However, the niche who I know are a wonderful crew. It's the only place I've been here that is mixed with more than a sprinkle. There is wide spectrum of race and backgrounds with everyone feeling welcome. They're intelligent and even given to thinking. The latter being somewhat difficult to find from my wanderings. If anything... hmm.. it's intelligence and awareness of the world that sets them apart and brings them there. Aside from being one of the most welcoming places I've been, it's one of the least violent. Very gentle people, overall, even those who have a well of anger over one thing or another. There are definitely some tough guys there, but maybe they lean towards beta. <g> There doesn't seem to be the need for displays of testoterone very often. The laughter flows but there are no target groups. I think they belie the idea that it is human nature, unconditionally, that when we form a group we need to target the "others". I've never heard a racial slur, a religious slur, a gender slur, or a slur against gays. Never heard a slur at all. Remarkable and enjoyable.

Aside from the pool table, a lot of chess goes on and some other board games. I've never heard mention of Dungeons and Dragons, though a few play a game done with cards. It's a stategy game and there isn't the role-playing. And religiously, it's very diverse. There's even some Christians there. <g>
