And Eric, after I fork over $300 for install and activation next Thursday, it will have to be a pretty compelling value prop to get me back to cable (and vis versa for cable users to DSL).

Who is competition for T when it comes to $45 per month
Currently the biggest competition is your local dial-up ISP for $17.95/month and AOL for $22/month.

Eventually when enough value is created in broadband to entice the casual surfer the competion will be DSL priced in the same ballpark as cable.

Then there will be wireless.

As you point out, better to get them signed up early.
