I just discovered that I can get DSL with Bell Atlantic and dump a phone line and my ISP charge at almost a wash. I am planning to make that no-brainer decision. This has to be competitive with ATHM

Don't forget that the pricing is very elastic.
In Calgary, the @home service through Shaw Cable is $39.95 CDN which is only $25 to $27 US depending on the exchange. So, it can be affordable if pricing becomes the competative issue.
