I am not a lawyer so this advice is worth what you are paying for it.

There's no law against recommending a stock (as long as you disclose your position in it if you have one), and no law against moving your shares to a cash account if you choose.

But asking people to get together and do the same thing at the same time with the deliberate intent of manipulating the stock price, that sounds like conspiracy to me.

And it could sound like that to the SEC too. How would you feel if a bunch of shorts got together and agreed to keep shorting a stock until their money ran out? That could just be a collective recommendation or it could be conspiracy.

Personally I wouldn't want to find out the hard way. Maybe there is a lawyer on the thread who could enlighten us.
