That's a real hoot, Dan. Congressionally mandated SLAs. I like it. Touché! I'm glad you touched on the difference between commercial and residential. It occurred to me as well to address this issue. It's no longer simply cliché to suggest that telecommuting and remote work at home agency work is on the rise. It's skyrocketing, as we speak. Most of us here (I would venture to say) actually conduct business on the 'net, trade on the 'net, or are otherwise tethered to our alternate job sites over the 'net. Yet, we all occasionally take that discretionary break, at times (cough), and for long stretches during leisure hours, to intermingle personal browsing, surfing and entertainment in between chores. Many of us use the same services in the evening as we do for daytime occupational activities. I fairly certain that you already get my point. In any event, my take is that in the future those ISPs who could only offer best effort browsing, along with e-mail only, will be left in the dust as higher service-oriented providers ensure the delivery of time sensitive content and services, no matter if it's occupationally related or for leisure purposes. I'm even quite certain that in certain demographics, the leisurely will be even more demanding of real time services than the lowly telecommutes in other areas. But who knows? Maybe you're right.
