Don't forget content. The SDMI will prevail on this one. The record companies may be supporting limited releases in MP3, but that is just plain PR. In July we'll know the real players. The SDMI will decide and the labels will follow. Most people don't know what MP3 is. This fall we will see competition between top brand names not codecs. I think that companies like Philips, Sony & Panasonic have the ability to mount stronger ad campaigns than Diamond Media.

The public will want ease of use and availability of content. I think we will see RIAA approved systems from Lucent, DTS, AAC and Microsoft, even though I read in the Miami Herald today that Microsoft's reciprocal is problematic.
