Speaking of Religion.... (And unsolicited stock advisors)

So long as theologians keep within their proper bounds, science has no quarrel with them, for it is no more able to prove that they are wrong than they themselves are able to prove that they are right. But human experience shows that they never keep within their proper bounds voluntarily; they are always bulging over the line, and making a great uproar over things that they know nothing about.

~ H.L. Mencken

___________

Thoughts on Insanity...

"When everyone is insane, It's folly to be wise."

~ Paul Samuelson (Nobel economics)

___________

On fools and idiots....

"I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters. [Keyboards]."

- Solomon Short

_____________

Absurdity...

It is Tertullian who is credited with the motto, Credo, quia absurdum est: I believe because it is incredible. Needless to say, he began life as a lawyer."

~ H. L. Mencken.

___________

On philosophy.... (replace the word "philosphy" with stock advice and messiahs.... particularly the unsolicited kind.... as in "confused")

"Philosophy consists very largely of one philosopher arguing that all other philosophers are jackasses. He usually proves it, and I should add that he also usually proves that he is one himself."

H. L. Mencken.

I always check out posters like Monty to see where they have visited and when I saw he frequents the Michael Burke thread I knew I was wasting my time for getting needlessly rattled exchanging useless banter by someone with absolutely no credibility. I like what you call those folks following MB as part of the "asylum"!

By the way how do you nominate yourself for the "thread moron"? I sometimes feel like one after the realization kicks in that I'm playing right into the hands of these lunies!

You also mentioned the "Full Monty and cracks". Well how about the beer commercial when the guy, naked from the waist down, walks into a bar, buys a beer and the bartender purposely drops the change on the floor forcing him to stoop down to retrieve it, exposing his crack to the delight of one particular voyeur who snaps a picture! LOL
