Hi Rip,

Can't answer all your thoughtful questions but here's a start.

I hope that Athm can triple that install rate soon. Is Athm adding new installation personnel
This is a problematic area in that the wage scale in cable ops is low and the work force is busy. A triple would be a stretch in the short run.

Are we going to see computer makers start offering pre-installed cable modems? Already happening.

When will you be able to buy a cable modem off the shelf from the local retailers? The day after Thanksgiving.

Will there be a "plug n' play" set up for this service to speed up the truck rolls? In development, I expect we will see this in Q1 or Q2 '00.

Will we ever see a time when the need for a truck roll will be eliminated? See last answer.

Does your average cable line in the average home work for the Athm service or is a different cable required. The average cable does not work because it was designed basically for distribution of the analog TV signal. The modern HFC systems has added bandwidth, duplex capability and completely redesigned headends as well as STBs.

@Home can only acquire new subscribers as fast as the MSOs put in modern HFC systems.

Best, Ry
