Hi BAM:

(Still fuming from that recent flame against you, grrrrr)

Is the mp3.com ipo one I should seriously consider investing in? Does it have the potential of the cream of the crop, i.e. pcln, etys, hlth (my picks, perhaps not all yours).

With the plethora of new issues, the subsequent realignment in the supply/demand ratio for ipo shares, and with my margin exposure higher than I'd like in a tenuous market, I now only consider the first tier inet ipos. My current impression is that mp3.com is no pcln.

As always, tia for your opinion and advice. Rob

Hello BAM,

I spent some time today looking into Spinner even more ... interesting and now I think my perspective is growing ... I'm not sure that the AOL deal is good for Real in many ways ...

Yep ... they should have moved quicker ... ;-)

Ok ... this is where my feelings get very mixed. After doing some DD today I think that Spinner is even more of a risk. What they are doing is creating a new portal that I believe will begin to pull together all of the various "broadcast" or "netcast" audio with a variety of sources. I didn't realize that Spinner had it's own player also ... although it appears to be built on Real's technology. It seems that they have built an advertising/channel selector "wrapper" around Real's G2 player.

What I'm wondering is what AOL will do to further integrate and promote the union of these products. NullSoft brings MP3 and Microsoft streaming to the plate. Spinner has a fixed "directory" of content ... Nullsoft brings the dynamic directory and "micro-netcasters" into the mix.

I'm trying to think through where Real is agressively going after the "small guys" to keep the "net-heads" in the mix. If they only go up-scale to the professional crowd, they'll lose the grass-roots where they came from ...

I always remember the movie "Big" ... it is the perfect reminder about how to play the game ... ;-)

> Even as a holder of AOL (sort of like owning a beige computer, but
> at least my PC's black!), I'm rootin' for RNWK.

Wow ... wish I would have listened to my brain instead of my "religious" feelings ... missed a good stock!
