Mel, if it is matter of indifference, then that is one thing. If it is preferable to be heterosexual, that is another. One does not have to want to persecute gays to believe that it is preferable to be heterosexual, and too little is known of the etiology of homosexuality confidently to assert that all who display some inclinations in that direction are fated to be gay. Therefore, if society prefers heterosexuality, it is reasonable to maintain a distinction, and encourage those who might be malleable to go in the direction of heterosexuality....This is not "gay- bashing", but a refusal to cooperate in the full "normalization" of homosexuality, for example, by sanctioning gay marriage...
