NPEC - intriguing email from NPEC IR, as found on NPEC thread.

I wanted to keep you informed about recent events with MetroPlus.

1. AT&T Global Clearinghouse
We have a meeting on June 11 with David Wong of the AT&T Global
Clearinghouse. AT&T is taking a very aggressive position with IP Telephony. They have a global organization for the brokering of long distance minutes. It is a membership program with AT&T acting as the arbiter. If we choose to, we can join 34 other major organizations to purchase minutes on the open market. AT&T doesn't actually terminate or originate minutes. They put buyers and sellers together. They are targeting ISP's and calling companies such as us around the world. We'll listen to what they have to say and see if it is something good for us and IPVoice, our technology partner.

2. IPVoice agreement
As we announced, we have a letter of intent completed with IPVoice.com. of Littleton, Colorado. They have proprietary technology for IP Telephony. We expect to complete the signing of the agreement this week. It is a major event in the history of Metroplus. With our 5,000 customers, we will be the first IP Telephony company in Western Canada to reach this milestone. The Vancouver operation will be used as the test model for our 16 exclusive cities with IPVoice.com. We expect to have a gateway operational in Vancouver within four weeks following the signing of the agreement.

3. Web Access Cards
As we announced, we are going to participate in the Web Access Card program with Ultimate Direct.(formerly Ultimate Cigar Company). It is a program created for the convenience store industry. It provides a direct marketing link between the Internet and print advertising. WE can potentially sell millions of cards.

It is not a phone card. It is a card that sells for $1.99 but provides an offer to entice the consumer to register at our web site. It creates an opportunity for us to sell customers our calling packages. It is classic direct response marketing.

4. GlobalNet
We have been approached by GlobalNet as a possible customer for their
services.

The mission of the Company is to focus on the distribution and aggregation of digitally encoded content for the interactive home and business marketplace, and to dedicate itself to eliminating the inconsistencies and complexities of acquiring and distributing interactive media. Its purpose is to provide the end user a total content package in a "one-stop" solution, which will satisfy the needs of his or her customer base.

GlobalNet will be one of the world's international telecommunications
carrier with a voice-over-data telecom service capable of carrying highly scalable volumes of traffic over a reliable data telecom, while delivering "carrier class" voice quality. GlobalNet accomplished this technological breakthrough by combining its proprietary leading-edge voice compression, voice-over-data and distributed routing technology with the inherent advantages of a mission-critical, end-to-end data telecom. GlobalNet's
technology reduces bandwidth requirements and increases telecom efficiency while delivering quality on a par with traditional voice operators.

This technology provides two technological features to significantly squeeze the cost per call minute; voice compression and distributed switching. Compression technology squeezes nine times more calls over the same transmission facility as regular telephony. This is done in a fashion that still permits the unimpaired transmission of non-voice traffic such as fax and modem data.
