- I agree with your selloff scenario this week

- I think it will have more to do with the Clintonistas & their left-wing allies in the press. Funny how the press is so objective & non-critical when reporting on money laundering in to the DNC. Yet the press is able to practically find MSFT guilty over the fact that Netscape's Navigator is 2nd rate. When AOL when even use their own browser, that should tell me something.

- BTW - from all accounts, Office 2000 appears to be headed for success - and this will be reflected when earnings are released in July

007 it will be interesting to see if msft net
income rises steadily resulting from recent
deployment of $8 million or so into cabel ventures
around the globe.

seems that investmnt in a variety of companies, aside
from cable, is also on the rise--though maybe my mis-
perception.

likely return on all these invstmnts will be greater
than whatever they held with cash. is msft's prospects
for return on the $5 billion in t diminished by the oregon
ruling friday?

Selloff on Msft on Monday as people sell on news of Office 2000
Option007,
Interesting call on your part. The only problem is that a lot of the jittery holders have been selling for a long time--would have certainly used Friday as an opportunity. Using your logic, MSFT should have sold off a week before the start of the trial and rebound upon the restart. It is not materialize that way (to my surprise) and i doubt the scenario you have outlined (which I would have predicted as well) has more than a normal chance of occuring based upon how the stock behaved in the last couple of weeks. Monday could have a late day selloff following a good rally during the day--in MSFT. If the general market does not sell off late (I am not expecting it to), MSFT will hold its ground also.

If you are a trader, you could capitilize on trading the shares long for the next few days. I might actually do that as well with my trading shares. Right now i am in a 100% long position. Might reduce from close to 100% down to 50% if and only if there is a rally into the low 80s. I just would not chance going short at any time. There is a lot of support for the stock in the 76 to 78 range.

BTW--The reason the stock is getting more difficult to predict is that a lot of "weak hands" have sold (greatly reduced) their position fearing the fallout from the trial.

Best of Luck.
