SCUMbria - Re: "Intel has surgically, and with great precision, amputated AMD's profitability quarter after quarter. My view is that Intel's management needs to feel the pain of their actions before they will stop their phoney baloney "market segmentation" strategy."

Phoney Baloney segmentation strategy?

1. Intel is regaining lost market share at Retail.

2. AMD is LOSING market share at retail.

3. AMD is losing BEAUCOUP money - $128 million last quarter - probably $50 million+ this quarter.

4. Intel's ASPs have been holding steady BECAUSE OF THEIR SEGMENTATION STRATEGY - enabling high ASP/HIGH PERFORMANCE devices for the HIGH END.

5. Intel's Portable/Mobile Segmentation strategy is a further success, giving them very good ASPs' on DIXON devices to compensate for their larger die sizes - while Mobile Celerons allow for cheaper CPUs to make sure AMD makes minimal money on their battery-eating K6-2 and Kmart 63 mobile offerings.

6. Intel racked up $2.0 BILLION in PROFITS last quarter.

Summing up - Intel's segmentation strategy has been a slam dunk success for Intel - only AMD and NSM have SUFFERED !

Too bad, SCUMMYBria !
