InterVU, which provides voice and video services over the Internet, "is positioned to become the 'Intel inside' for video/audio over the Web," says Paul L. Merenbloom of Prudential Securities.

He rates the stock a strong buy with high risk and has a price target of $62 over the next year. His price target is based on a multiple of sales, not earnings. The stock sells for a 25 percent discount from price-sales multiples of peer companies, the analyst says.

He expects the company to lose $1.99 a share in fiscal 1999 and to lose $2.21 a share in 2000.

InterVU's technology and services enjoy significant advantages over those of competitors, the analyst says.

"Clients, which include media giants such as CNN, NBC, Bloomberg, Universal Studios and Warner Brothers, have all turned to InterVU to handle the complex technical, logistical and management issues associated with providing high-quality multimedia content to a large population that is geographically diverse," Merenbloom says.<<
