<And the Pentium III's performance is so far out in front of a Celeron's.>

And what if the K7's advantage over the Pentium III is as great as Pentium III's advantage over Celeron? This, in my opinion, is a very plausible situation, one where K7 fulfills the claim of "fastest x86 processor" but not by much.

Oh well, that's really all AMD needs. Then throw in volume manufacturing without any flaws in execution, and AMD will finally be seeing the big bucks roll in, at least for the year 2000.

Easy, huh?
