Re: Oracle and Thin-client

Thread,
Just FWIW, I happened upon this statement from Larry Ellison while searching for another statement LE made. Just thought I would post it. Take out the word, "database," and it could have been a statement out of Citrix regarding their ASP plans. I know. I know. It's not apples to apples, but it's still interesting how the two companies make similar statements about the new paradigm of thin client computing.

Thanks again to everyone that has discussed this subject extensively with me.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison told reporters and analysts that the Internet has "obliterated" the older client/server form of computing. As expected, Ellison described the best Web-based architecture as a thin client, preferably a browser, accessing data from one centralized database server.
