Hi, Mel and everybody. Stopped in to say hello, lots of stuff going on at work, home and with the kids (who are an awful lot of work and are seemingly never home). Spring is honeydo season around here, and I'm almost done with the bulk (term used with knowing wink) of the honeydo list.

It is an icon in the Byzantine style from Northeastern Italy. They are extremely stylized, and I believe this version of the Madonna and child presupposes that Christ is practically a neonate. Have you seen how small their heads are?

Actually, neonate's heads are larger in proportion to their body size than at later stages in development:

Artists conventionally do not portray the Infant Jesus as an actual infant. I don't know why.
