Wayne - Indian Charlie was my number one last year, too. I'd bet Real Quiet twice before the Derby and felt disappointed not in him but in Desormeaux rides. And I also ran my own figures, before Beyer came along with his book and publicized the importance of speed. Today I just handicap. It's interesting to note, re your later posts to Merritt, that in the old days at SA I scored heavily in claimers. Hope Ike realizes the accuracy of your comments to him. And yes, the general public is pretty smart, even though a lot of fallacies still abound. But what is difficult for the public is combining three of the most important elements necessary to win at the game: patience, the need to seek value, and discipline. This was my best ever Triple Crown Series because of the resultant prices. But it took work. I looked at the results of every day's entire card of all the key races prior to each of the big races. I don't expect to match my success again. Now that it's over I'll crawl back into my hole again. Enjoyed noting your observations. Ralph
