Last I checked the K6-III was already using a socket so why would heat be a problem, moving from one socket to another?
As for the bus architecture, I yield to you but it seems I saw a Cyrix M-II with socket 370 packaging so maybe the architecture could be adapted on the K6? One thing I did forget was that maybe on a socket 370 the K6-III couldn't access the L3 on the motherboard so maybe it would take a performance hit.
