I'm in same place. My only LU will be via Asnd, and will not have that many shares, so it's worth keeping some LU. Personally, I see no reason to sell at this point, incur a commission charge and maybe buy LU later.

in an opinion piece in Monday's New york Times a writer projects that in the next several years there will be a glut of network availability due to overbuilding FO networks and that telecom companies will be hurting as a result of prices being driven down.

Excerpt: "In other words, a dial tone -- or, to be specific, the availability of too many such tones -- could be the sound that ends the investment boom in communications technology."

See nytimes.com you may need to subscribe to the Internet edition of the NYT to get this opinion piece by "EDITORIAL OBSERVER"

Implications or comments anyone, especially re whether or not there will be such huge overcapacity, or will new needs tap into the available networks and thus obivate the overcapacity?

Lucent Planning More Takeovers
as predicted 3 days ago ASND is not the last acquisition for LU - per Wednesday's N Y Times Bloomberg quotes LU CEO Richard McGinn as saying the pace of acquisitions would continue after the ASND $24BN deal closes.

"We have really improved our ability to make acquisitions and
integrate these companies."

Bloomberg further stated that Lucent is using acquisitions to catch up in areas where it lacked products to challenge Cisco Systems Inc.
