StockHawk,
This is from foggy memory so take it lightly, but I think I read sometime this year that Motorola is building a ~275-325,000~ sq. ft. facility in Arizona for the production/research of FPD's.

EXCELLENT WORK, StockHawk. I just love it when you guys take the initiative, pick a subject and run with it. Your post is perhaps the most complete essay on Flat Panel Displays to date on SI.

I still can't resist your bottom fishers. . .SGI makes the servers that I believe broadband content providers will require. . .and SGI's partnership with NINE to develop the finest displays in the world using Number Nine's digital video cards. . .makes this a double play.

CFMT I had not heard about, but also looks like a nice turnaround sleeper.

A+ and a gold star.<g>

good post, are there any tariff impacts...foreign vs NAFTA suppliers?

i noticed APPLE's product looks good (stand sucks)

there is a rumoured PCMCIA video card that would allow flat panels to be driven on notebooks...this is the future, i think...two flat screens, portable, almost zero footprint addition with stand/arm

thanks again
ynot :)

PS
if you hear source of PCMCIA card, please let me know :)))

Stockhawk, just finished reading your FPD post... excellent presentation!!! Thank you!

FWIW... had a discussion with a tech friend about SGI this weekend. Conversation was along the lines of how top notch their products are.

Good luck in trading this sector. Looks very competitive.

Flat Panel update - this from the July issue of PC Mag. Research firm Stanford Resources predicts that "the dollar value of LCD monitors will surpass that of traditional CRTs by 2001 or 2002."
