hey mon,

i saw mph post awhile back about a restaurant in manhattan, and she'd forgotten the name. made me think of a great place i went to when i last visited manhattan in '94 (we flew in to see letterman). the place is called gallagher's at 228 w. 52nd st.

my god the food was great. the plate of scallops i got cost $25 and they were piled sky high. all side dishes were like, $5.00. the string beans were so fresh, and stacked like cord wood. the waiters stayed positioned with backs to the wall, watching diners carefully to be summoned for any need. two waiters served us. one put the food before us, the other just repositioned everything and generally "fussed" over us.

have you ever eaten there?

oh yeah, i am annoyed that i live 3000 miles away from gallaghers!

:)
