December is a great time for picking Canadian listed junior mining and exploration companies. There are dozens of great stocks out there that are trading at or near their 52 week lows due to tax loss selling, lack of current news, etc. I have come to respect the opinions and insights of a great many people here on SI. I thought what a better way to bring us all together and share our 'picks' for '97 than to have a contest. The following rules are not cast in stone but intended to set guidelines for your picks. Overview: Everyone has $10,000 SI dollars to spend on their 5 favorite mining and exploration stocks (2,000 each). The contest will compare their March 31, 1997 close to the Dec. 31, 1996 close. No trades, changes or sells partway through the contest are allowed. Other rules: 1. Stocks must have Dec 31 close over $1.00 and have a market cap. min of 20 million and max. of 500 million as of Dec. 31. 2. Stocks must trade on one or more of the following exchanges - TSE, MSE, VSE, or ASE. 3. If the stock you choose is halted on Dec 31 or March 31 then its previous closing price shall prevail. 4. Deadline for submissions is Jan. 7, 1997 (I will be out of the Country from Jan 2-7) either via this SI thread and/or email to myself. 5. Prizes are to be determined later but as a minimum you will get to carry the title of "SI Mining Stock King" for Quarter 1, 1997. 6. Depending on interest in this thread and contest I reserve the right to limit the number of entries. Let the contest begin! el

SI - The Great Canadian Junior Stock Contest!
