Shares of Navitas Semiconductor (NASDAQ: NVTS) have more than doubled year to date to $9.45 at the time of writing. They were up 165% for the year as of Thursday's market close. This performance is despite the company reporting a sharp fall in revenue in the recent quarter. However, Navitas' long-term prospects are improving following a recent partnership with Nvidia.

Why Navitas' best days are ahead

Nvidia recently named Navitas as a power semiconductor partner for building next-generation data centers. The partnership with the leader in artificial intelligence (AI) chips validates Navitas' leadership in specialized products, such as Gallium Nitride (GaN) power integrated circuits, used for power conversion and control.

While third-quarter revenue fell 53% year over year, this decline is somewhat intended. Navitas is currently transitioning its focus away from selling low-margin products in consumer markets to more profitable opportunities in supplying specialized components for the AI data center market.

Navitas believes it has enormous growth potential ahead, as leading U.S. hyperscalers turn to GaN and high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) technologies to address the need for more power efficiency. The company is not expected to return to revenue growth until at least 2027, so investors shouldn't expect quick gains. But looking out five years and beyond, this semiconductor stock could offer significant upside as it transitions to selling into the high-growth AI infrastructure market.

Yes - I'm retired now but spent the last 20 years of my career in the Wide Bandgap semi arena (primarily SiC devices). I know their CTO (Dan Kinzer) from back in the day when he was with International Rectifier (now owned by Infineon). I actually interviewed for a job with them about 3 years ago but it required relocation so I turned it down. I've been in and out of NVTS stock for many years now and still have some shares from the 2s. I'm glad to hear you've benefited also - still plenty of legs left in this one :-)

You've been involved with this name for a while, correct? Congratulations on the validation. I had a trade in it a few years ago stopped out at modest profit. The NVDA news in the spring put it in play but today's news kind of makes it momo squared setting up interesting ST-IT potential, and maybe even LT as AI and other tech bubbles play out. My current position is based on original NVDA news and modest from the 5s avg built over time.

Instead of playing the could of, should of, would of game, I'm content with my position in it but likely have to treat it as a hot momo potato now which demands more of my attention to play it well. :-) Good luck to you, Sir.

Glad I added more to my position a couple weeks ago :-)

They are positioning themselves perfectly to become a key supplier of GaN and SiC devices into this new generation power conversion technology (solid-state transformers). Nvidia picked them for good reason. SiC devices for the higher voltage front end stages and <=650V Gan devices for the higher frequency DC/DC converter stages.

Thanks for the kind words ST. All good here. Delighted to hear how well NVTS has performed for you. The deal with NVDA is significant.

I sold most of my positions in the 7s and 8s for a six-figure gain. Been by far my best performer so far in 2025. Still holding a small position in the 2s. Hanging out on the sidelines for another dip before getting back in. Long term, this one still has great potential.

So far that position is up 316% and my position (having bought more shares as it moved) is up 192%.
