This is the Quotes Plus thread, so that all who use it or who are interested in the system have a home of our own (and we don't keep cluttering up the other threads with our chatter about qp. Lets hear your questions, your acclaims, your beefs, and your comments re the qp system, whether you use it only as a pass-through of updated data or as a basic ta scanning and analysis system. Being a first time user myself, I personally will not immediately be able to anwer very many of the possible questions, but there are several here in Ta-space who will be happy to share their experiences and expertise. doug

SI - TA-Quotes Plus

[Chartgod] Star Date 2 years later...back at the ranch.. Of course Reuters offers something but they hide the details and their offers are numberless and most likely priceless:
search.thomsonreuters.com*&output=xml_no_dtd&num=20
BTW my guess is, that QuotesPlus got its data from Reuters and Reuters payed out QP in order to take over some of its customers or they charged too much in terms of fees. I would be really glad if Gary Lyben would give some information about what happened. He used to be very helpful and friendly when on the hotline. I learned some days ago, that he was the owner of QuotesPlus.

There is "QuantShare" an analysis prog, which allows for plugins, one of which is fundamental data. I installed the prog and the plugin and ran it but seems not to work (in my hands).

"StockPup" offers Excel worksheets for free download for DJI30 and S&P100 stocks, which is too little and can not be scanned first place. For a fee you get some mor S&P stocks.

Last not least there is a fundamental downloader on www.trading-tools.com/mld.htm.
This one works and gathers a lot of fundamental information but is still a beta. The description is claiming, that it plots the data into MS Access. Yet Access is not started internally and there are absolutely no informations, how one should proceed with Access. If finally the data were in Access, perhaps one could transfer them into Excel. Screening in Excel could be feasible I guess.

"EODDATA" claims to deliver also fundamental data, but there are only some 5 items and no database like in QuotesPlus but only a datastream as to one had to do the database storage and screening on one's own.

Regards,

wolfgangl

[bruce-l] I'm trying out FCharts right now. I actually like the charting end of it better than QP. It does has a scanning function but not near what QP had. But then I'm still just kicking the tires around yet.
bruce

[investor0329] I believe there is a free charting website at www.stockcharts.com .

[investor0329] Need something that interfaces with Excel and has scan ability..for both price/v...

Need something that interfaces with Excel and has scan ability..for both price/volume and fundamental data.

[bruce-l] NB: I'll second Woody's comment on your site (very nice). Don't know what I am going to do either but it will not be any scans for a while. In the short term I may just get a cheap charting program with a free end of day stock price service.

I've been backing off some of the scanning I used to do so I don't know if I just hang it up for good or not. I really don't want to pay more for something else than what I was paying for QP.

I'de have to look but I been with QP since the late 90's also.
bruce

[TW-Stocks] Will miss QuotesPlus - Would be nice to know what happened. I too will miss QP, think I started around 97. In the past I've looked around but to this day haven't found anything to compare with it. If I run across any thing I'll post it here.

Nutty Buddy, it used to be my favorite cone .. <smile>

Woody

[Nutty Buddy] I didn't think it was possible to use QP with any other data provider. I used QP scans almost daily to track investment results and opportunities. I also used the scan program with Excel to create charts and tables for my website, macdstockstats.com , daily.

Even with the flaws others have posted about here, Quotes-Plus was a remarkable and powerful service. I've been a subscriber since 1996. I still have all of the app/data CDs they sent me in the early days.

Looks like I'll have to find another hobby.

[Woody] I’ve started looking for a replacement but nothing yet. As for a data source I’m not so sure that would be an answer as it downloaded all symbols every day, maybe just so one would not be able to do what your suggesting.

Open to any ideas,

Woody

[Nutty Buddy] Quotes Plus is now dead.
