"Neither oil nor iron ore provide a logical explanation
for some extraordinary secrecy which surrounded mineral
exploration of the drift-covered bush near Choiceland
Saskatchewan in 1956. It was indeed a "cloak and dagger"
operation as it was put so well by "Lefty" Macleod, the
pilot who flew the exploration and drilling company north
(Kuptch and Hanson, 1986:144). The presence of an iron ore
body was surmised after interpreting aero-magnetic records
by the Imperial Oil Company and others and led to finding
iron ore in Precambrian rocks. The discovery was followed
by a fierce staking rush for iron ore. I believe that Imperial
accidently may have hit something else besides iron ore:

A new and even fiercer staking rush occured in September 1998
that saw IPSCO Inc. grab up land in the area above described.
Is this a new rush for Saskatchewan diamond?!?
