Your favorite daily hygiene product - me!!! - has decided we need more Culture and Arts here. While the velvet Elvis is certainly very nice, there has been a plague of polyester-eating moths from the $5 and Under basement, and that venerable piece has GOT to go.
I have found a most excellent recurring chronicle of what is Worth Owning in America today. Who here reads TV Guide?? Notice how the really important pages are not made of newsprint, but of tagboard or glossy clay? They serve to catch our attention, yea stop us from turning to the mundane ephemeral programming pages. They proclaim rare and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to invest in icons of our culture.
Who we are.
How we define beauty and value.
So each week I will chronicle here what distillations of our national spirit are contained in TV Guide, lest they be lost to the historians and anthropologists of the distant future.
